The Department of Parks announces that the Bailey's Bay Bridge on the Railway Trail in Hamilton Parish will be temporarily closed to the public starting Thursday, 29 August, due to safety concerns regarding exposed fibreglass on the bridge's railing.
Signs and barriers will be erected by Thursday to ensure the closure is clearly communicated and enforced.
Members of the public are strongly advised to immediately refrain from approaching the bridge due to potential safety risks. The public will be notified when the bridge is reopened and safe to use.
To rectify this issue, the department is sourcing overseas coating materials to repair the railings. The Department of Parks understands the inconvenience this closure may cause and apologises to the public.
The community's understanding and cooperation are appreciated as efforts are made to improve this important community asset.
