The Government of Bermuda is pleased to recognize Mr. Christopher Williamson, Sites Management Officer at Marsh Folly, as the latest recipient of the April Public Service Excellence Award (PSEA) for delivering an interactive field trip experience for Somerset Primary School’s Primary 6 class, and for supporting the Department of Parks ahead of the Good Friday events during a period of limited staffing.
Mr. Williamson received multiple nominations for the April 2026 PSEA, reflecting the breadth and impact of his contributions across his work. He was recognised not only for creating a memorable and engaging learning experience for Somerset Primary students during their visit to Marsh Folly, but also for supporting the Department of Parks ahead of the Good Friday events during a period of limited staffing. He secured extra support to help keep events running smoothly and public spaces maintained.
The Premier, the Hon. David Burt, JP, MP, said, “Mr. Williamson’s contributions display the kind of dedication and initiative that strengthen both the Public Service and the wider community. From helping Somerset Primary students learn about Bermuda’s marine environment during their visit to Marsh Folly, to supporting the Department of Parks during a period of limited staffing ahead of the Good Friday holiday and beyond, Mr. Williamson has consistently shown a willingness to step forward wherever support is needed. His commitment represents the highest standards of public service and the spirit of service recognised through the Public Service Excellence Awards."
Mr. Williamson, supported by his team at the Marsh Folly site, continues to demonstrate a strong, hands-on approach to service delivery. Despite operational pressures, he supports the Department of Parks by organising skilled staff while also managing the demands of his own team, reinforcing his commitment to collaboration and effective public service.
Minister of Public Works, the Hon. Jache Adams, JP, MP, added, “Infrastructure services are enhanced when officers use their skills and experience to support the wider community. By engaging students at Marsh Folly, Mr. Williamson has helped make complex environmental processes more accessible and relevant, while also highlighting the practical work carried out every day to manage and maintain our public spaces.”
Head of the Public Service, Cherie Whitter, said, “Mr. Williamson’s recognition reflects a pattern of consistent performance and contribution across multiple areas of service. His ability to support colleagues, respond to operational challenges, and deliver quality outcomes demonstrates the standard of excellence we expect across the Public Service. This is not a single achievement, but a clear demonstration of his dedication to teamwork, reliability, and effective service delivery.”
