The Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) today announced the launch of the "Go Blue for Child Abuse Prevention" campaign, coinciding with Child Abuse Prevention Month.
“As April unfolds, so does our commitment to safeguarding our community's most vulnerable members,” said Tinee Furbert, the Minister for Youth, Social Development and Seniors.
“We believe that protecting our children is everyone's responsibility, and together, we can make a meaningful difference. That's why we're calling on you to participate in our campaign by donning blue and sharing your solidarity on social media platforms.”
The DCFS will highlight the importance of child protection, raising awareness about preventing child abuse and neglect, and is inviting the community to join their efforts on April 26th, 2024, to show support for this vital cause.
The public is encouraged to participate on April 26th, 2024, by wearing blue and taking a photo or video. Share your image on social media platforms, including X, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and via Internal Emails. Use the hashtags #goblue4bdaskids, #noexcuse4childabusebda, and #protectingchildrenmorein2024. Encourage your friends, family, and colleagues to join the movement.
Minister Furbert continued, “By coming together in a sea of blue, we send a powerful message: there's no excuse for child abuse, and protecting our children is a top priority in 2024 and beyond.
“This campaign is more than just wearing a color – it's a symbol of our collective commitment to nurturing safe and supportive environments for our children to thrive. Let's paint Bermuda blue and ignite conversations that lead to real change.
“So, join us on April 26th as we stand united against child abuse. Together, we can build a safer, brighter future for every child in our community.”
