The Ministry of Economy and Labour is pleased to highlight the success of the recent Hospitality Industry Careers Fair, held at the Princess Room at the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club. The event brought together job seekers and hospitality employers in a collaborative effort to strengthen Bermuda’s tourism workforce.
The Careers Fair was a direct outcome of the Hospitality Industry Summit held in February, where industry stakeholders identified the need to create more opportunities for Bermudians to connect directly with employers in the hospitality sector.
A total of 170 job seekers attended, exploring employment and career pathways within Bermuda’s hotel and restaurant industry. Fifteen hotel and restaurant partners participated, recruiting for a variety of roles including front-of-house, culinary, guest services, and operational support.
Support was also provided by the Department of Workforce Development, Bermuda College, and the Bermuda Tourism Authority, which offered guidance on training, career pathways, and industry development.
Several attendees made strong impressions on employers and were offered interviews on the spot, highlighting the immediate impact of the initiative.
Minister of Economy and Labour, Jason Hayward, who praised the initiative and the strong turnout from both employers and job seekers, said, “The success of the Hospitality Industry Career Fair demonstrates the value of partnership between government, industry, and education. By bringing employers and Bermudians together, we are creating real opportunities for individuals to enter or advance within the hospitality sector. The strong turnout reflects growing momentum as we continue to strengthen Bermuda’s tourism workforce.”
CEO of the Bermuda Hotel Association, Stephen Todd, also welcomed the positive response to the event, saying, “The hospitality sector continues to offer a wide range of rewarding careers for Bermudians. It was encouraging to see such strong interest from job seekers and such enthusiastic participation from our hotel and restaurant partners. Events like this are important in helping to bridge the gap between employers and individuals seeking opportunities within the industry.”
