
The Government of Bermuda’s March Public Service Excellence Award (PSEA) has been presented to two members of the Transport Control Department (TCD) have been singled out for their heroic and brave actions.
Dayvon Tucker, Examiner, and Vaughn Davis, Traffic Officer, (pictured) recently prevented a potentially serious altercation with their quick thinking and professionalism, ensuring safety and security in the workplace.
Workplace safety remains a top priority, and it is essential that public officers are prepared to respond to a range of situations with calm, respect, and composure.
While de-escalation is always preferred, there are times when circumstances require immediate, decisive action to protect the wellbeing of others. Dayvon, Vaughn and another from the Department of Education, responded to a dangerous situation with extraordinary courage, placing the safety of others ahead of their own while exemplifying the highest standards of public service.
Today, Premier David Burt congratulated the officers saying, “I am honored to recognize these outstanding individuals for their brave and selfless actions. Their deep sense of responsibility and dedication to the safety of others reflects our highest organisational standards. I thank them for their fearless service to the community.”
And the Head of the Public Service, Cherie Whitter, said, “These officers truly went above and beyond the call of duty in a moment of real pressure. Their conduct is a shining example of one of our core values: to put people first in all that we do. We celebrate their heroism and extend our heartfelt gratitude for their outstanding contribution. Their efforts have made a lasting impact, and they are most deserving of this recognition.”
