Good evening everyone.
It is a pleasure to be here with you tonight as we continue our effort to encourage Bermudians to ‘Step Up, Take the Challenge’ and consider a future in one of our island’s five uniformed services.
First, I want to sincerely thank all of you for taking the time to join us. Whether you are here as someone exploring a career in the uniformed services, a young person considering your future, or simply curious to learn more, your presence tonight speaks to your interest in service to Bermuda.
Our uniformed services—the Bermuda Police Service, the Royal Bermuda Regiment, the Customs Department, the Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service, and the Department of Corrections—are the backbone of our island’s safety and security. These roles are more than just jobs; they offer stable careers, personal growth, and the chance to make a real difference in our community.
While there may not be immediate vacancies, tonight is about preparation and awareness.
Our goal is to ensure that you are ready, confident, and informed when opportunities arise. The journey to a rewarding career begins with understanding the role, the requirements, and the opportunities available.
I encourage you to ask questions, engage with our panellists, and take full advantage of this session.
So, as you listen to our speakers and gain insight into what these careers entail, I ask you to keep an open mind, think about your future, and remember: Step Up, Take the Challenge and please monitor the website, gov.bm(forward-slash) uniformed services, for information and updates in the coming months.
And when you leave here tonight, please take the time to spread the word. Recruitment for our uniformed services is ongoing and constant. If you know family members or friends, particularly those who may have left Bermuda, encourage them to return home and consider coming back to serve. The opportunities are always here, and we welcome those who want to make a difference.
Thank you, and I now turn it over to our panellists to guide you through the rest of the session.
