Please see a statement from the Minister of National Security, Wayne M. Caines JP MP:
There has been erroneous information provided to the public by outside agencies indicating the causeway has been opened for public access.
This information is not correct and the causeway is not open to the public.
To be clear, the causeway assessment has been completed and given the all-clear however access is restricted to emergency vehicles and crews only as they continue working to provide emergency aid to those in need, to clear debris and restore power.
I strongly advise all agencies and the public to wait for announcements or releases from the Government of Bermuda before making unsubstantiated announcements.
To obtain the latest and most accurate information, thus avoiding confusion and unnecessary frustrations, the public are reminded that they can easily stay informed about the latest information and updates on Hurricane Humberto by listening to the emergency broadcast station 100.1 FM and downloading and installing the Bermuda Government Tree Frog app, available for free from the Apple and Google Play store.
You can also visit gov.bm and the Government of Bermuda Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts for information.
