Customs to Launch Online Auction Portal
The Customs Department will launch an online auction of imported goods that have been abandoned or seized in order to recover the duty owed on them.
The website www.customs.bm has been established to provide further details on the available items and as a way to submit offers for these items.
Starting today, Thursday, 3 November 2022, and subject to availability, new items will be displayed on the site periodically.
Anyone wishing to bid on the available items is encouraged to register on the website https://customs.bm/register/. Bids will only be accepted through the website until the stated auction closing time.
Customs will contact members of the public who submit the best offers via email to advise them that their bids have been accepted. Payments will only be accepted through the site using a credit, debit, or charge card.
The items will be available for collection at Custom House, 131 Front Street (First Floor), on the next working day after receiving confirmation of payment via email. The successful bidder must provide a hard copy of the receipt showing that full payment has been made for retention by Customs when collecting their items.
Anyone who wishes to be kept up-to-date with the items offered for sale is urged to subscribe to updates on customs.bm and receive the weekly newsletter identifying the items offered for sale that week.
