Appointment of the Director of Transport Control Department
The Head of the Public Service, Cherie Whitter, announced the appointment of T A 'Chris' Spencer as the Director of the Transport Control Department (TCD).
In his capacity as Director of TCD, Mr. Spencer will operate under the guidance of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport. He will assume responsibility for the comprehensive management and administration of all facets of the department's five sections.
Mr. Spencer joined the department in January 2007. Prior to his appointment to Assistant Director of TCD in November 2018, Mr. Spencer held the Registrations Manager's position for seven years, and transferred to the Manager of Technical Services post.
In his new role, Mr. Spencer will continue to spearhead the department's initiatives, primarily focusing on ensuring all road users' safety and maintaining compliance with the relevant legislation. He will oversee financial and operational management, human resources duties, and the administration of the Bermuda Road Safety Council.
Before joining TCD, Mr Spencer served on the Bermuda Police Service (BPS) for 30 years. During his tenure within the BPS, he served as a driving and riding instructor and held the Service's chief Driving Examiner position. Mr. Spencer graduated from the University of Portsmouth in England, obtaining a Bachelor of Science Degree (Hons) in Policing and Police Administration.
