New Appointment: Nicholas Segal as Assistant Justice
The Governor, Ms Rena Lalgie, has announced the appointment of Mr Nicholas Segal as an Assistant Justice of the Supreme Court of Bermuda.
The Governor said "I am pleased to appoint Mr Nicholas Segal to the role of Assistant Justice which is an important role in the Bermuda Commercial Court for a period of one year. In particular, he brings valuable knowledge and insight from his extensive international experience including his work in England and the Cayman Islands in the area of corporate, insolvency, financial, funds, trusts, fraud, land, and commercial law.
The Judiciary holds an important place in Bermuda as a separate and independent branch of Government which hears charges of criminal conduct, resolves disputes, upholds the rights and freedoms of individuals and preserves the rule of law. The appointment reflects the continuing dedication of the Commercial Court to provide judicial services to the international business sector which supports a significant part of the economy of Bermuda."
