The Cenotaph Ceremony is a central event in the United Kingdom's National Service of Remembrance, held on the second Sunday in November, known as Remembrance Sunday.
Today’s ceremony commemorates the heroes who have served and sacrificed in the two World Wars, men and women who fought for freedom and peace.
The wreath-laying at the Cenotaph, an iconic symbol of remembrance, underscores the unwavering gratitude and respect for those who have given their lives in service to their country.
Today's ceremony was led by His Majesty, King Charles and the Royal Family. Also in attendance were the UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and senior Cabinet Ministers, High Commissions and Ambassadors, and military representatives.
All gathered today to lay wreaths of poppies at the base of the Cenotaph.
Additionally, veterans, serving members of the armed forces, and members of various organizations also participate in a formal procession, reflecting on the sacrifices made in wartime.
Here at home, tomorrow (Nov. 11), the Remembrance Day Parade will take place at 10.30 am along Front Street.
In commemoration of those who fell in the two World Wars and other campaigns of the Allied Forces, Her Excellency the Governor, Rena Lalgie, Premier David Burt, JP, MP, and other dignitaries will lay wreaths at the Cenotaph.
The Royal Bermuda Regiment (RBR) will support the ceremony with a Guard on parade and will be joined in the parade by the Bermuda Police Service, Sea Cadets and the Junior Leaders.
Tomorrows, RBR Band & Corps of Drums, the Somerset Brigade Band, the Salvation Army Band, the North Village Band and the Bermuda Islands Pipe Band will also participate in the Remembrance Day ceremony.
